how to say avocado
I was confused about how to say avocado in Spanish--I'd heard el aguacate. But those online flashcards were telling me la palta. Turns out there's a lot of story there, but in brief, la palta is a Quechua word. Trip out. And if you hadn't heard, avocado comes from a word that means testicle.

Henceforth, I shall call them testacle fruit! Much to Jen's dismay. I love testacle fruit! I would plant a testacle fruit tree if they did well here, but they don't.
Our pomegranate tree is doing well though. :)

Not nearly, although it's growing really fast. They do well here.
But nearby ones (same neighborhood) are giving fruit, so we are confident it will in the future.
Someone else will be enjoying them because we'll have moved on, but at least the tree will be healthy until we do. :)
