Las Vegas Lockout
Yesterday was one of the most exhausting days of my life. It all began with calling AAA to jump start my truck, and it ended with spending the afternoon with a friend who's in extreme physical pain, getting a prescription for new pain medicine that wouldn't make her vomit, and going to sleep at eight at night.
On my receipt from AAA for the jump, there's a list of various reasons the AAA person would come to the rescue, and one of the listed is "Las Vegas Lockout." I've googled it and looked it up at Urban Dictionary, but neither can shed any light. If I had to guess, I would guess it was someone locking their keys in the car with the car running, but I don't know what that would have to do with Las Vegas.
Anyway, a phrase that only gets seven google hits is pretty rare, and maybe now I'll be number eight.

I got this directly from AAA:
Thank you for visiting AAA.com. This code is used for Emergency Road Service calls placed in the Las Vegas area where someone has locked themselves out of their vehicle.

Thanks for the info. I wondered about it too.
Of course, the explanation doesn't really explain anything. After all, they would already know what city the trouble was in. Why don't they have a "Las Vegas flat" or a "Los Angeles lockout"?
Still, it's nice to know that I'm not the only person wondering about it.

I've heard from a dispatcher it's when you lock your keys and your baby in the car. Why, i don't know. I was googling it and found your blog. Cheers.

I have to say that I live in Roseville and noticed that "Las Vegas Lockout" was listed as an option on my AAA receipt, and as I go to google it, I see that your blog was the first to pop up. Ha!

As a AAA Tow Driver I can tell You that even the AAA dispatchers didn't know the answer.

I've searched high and low for this answer. From thirty year veterans of the tow world to aaa themselves and my own dispatch. I'm beginning to think the aaa has a sick sense of humor. In conclusion.... It's a lockout that is all.

It's a lockout where the vehicle window is tinted.

I am a AAA tow truck operator. A Los Vegas lockout is breaking a window to get into a vehicle.
