I wanted to make a potato condominium http://www.openlybalanced.com/potato-condos-old/ but lacked wood and drywall screws.
While on vacation last year I had the garden kinda self sustaining, covered in mulch, which produced a lot of good growth, which I then cutback this Spring 2012.
When I moved late last Autumn 2011, I liberated my vermicompost out of the plastic boxes into the garden plot, then had the leftover ventilated plastic boxes.
Last time I planted potatoes, I lost them cause they were underground. So I planned on utilizing the available resources, which is a permaculture concept, and planted some potato eyes (then actually LM planted a later higher crop) in compost, in the box, such that the potatoes would grow within, thus utilizing the woody mulch and the boxes to containerize the potatoes.
