It's a neat idea, but I find them boring, maybe because of their shortness, most of the time. I also feel uncomfortable reading most of them for some reason. I dunno if it's the boringness or something about dreams and lack of control. It might be something about their curtness. I get a similar feeling even thinking about Jessica Abel's second collection of comics, Mirror, Window. It puts me on edge for some reason.

I had gotten Reklaw's book Dreamtoons and didn't keep it after reading it and then started following his site on Reader, though I don't know if I'll continue. He did an awesome story in an SPX Anthology that was sort of an homage or parody of Spiegelman's Maus that I liked a lot and that's why I wanted to read more of his work at the time.

I did submit one dream once, but it didn't get published. I'm curious to see what it would be like to have my description turned into a four-panel comic strip. It seems like such a limited space. Four panels.

Yeah, I knew you didn't like them too much because I saw your low rating of Dreamtoons on Good Reads. What's an SPX Anthology? Bummer your dream didn't get published. Maybe I should submit. Last night I had an interesting one I turned into a ghost.

I think it was only because you were reading it that I posted my rating on Goodreads since I use Shelfari, but yeah. Two stars. It's rare that I find a collection of cartoons or comic strips terribly interesting overall, with exceptions being Boondocks, Comic Strip by Jason Pultz, and Read Meat. The ArmzRace stuff too, of course.

SPX stands for Small Press Expo in Maryland (like APE in San Fran), and they used to publish an anthology, from at east 1997-2005 as far as I can tell. I think I'm only missing 1998. Usually there is a good amount of stuff I like in each one, and they were cheap. I got my first one used at Bookman's in Flagstaff and its theme was travel, which appealed to me.

    Their listing is incomplete: http://www.comics.org/publisher/1822/
