purslane
This is not my picture--it's a wikipedia picture--of purslane. What do you think? I wanted to grow some, but then I learned it's an annual. It's a weed, but it's edible and has a lot of good nutrients in it, and I think it's pretty. They're selling it for $2.50 at Whole Foods, but I saw some growing in sidewalk cracks down the street. Maybe I should dig some up.

Purslane is mucilaginous so make sure you like it first. Be warned it's easy to pull but it can take over the entire garden and come back every year.

Kay! We dug some up from the garden to put in a pot. I took a bite and found it somewhat tasty. Maybe just the novelty of it. We'll see.

Purslane is tasty to me and I am happy it is indeed coming up well, out of a few pots.

I remember growing some, and I liked the taste, but it did not grow for very long here (outside anyway). Can't remember why I grew it, I think it is a good source of omega3..? Not sure if you could eat enough to make it worth getting omega3 from it though.. hmm.. Tash

Hey, Tash! Yes, it is a good source of omega 3s, the best plant source other than flax, maybe? Or maybe the best bar none?
