what electricity is good for
It's so convenient, having a fridge again.
The saddest thing was losing all the ice cream. We thought the freezer would keep cold longer than it did. "We could have had an ice cream party by candle light," Erik said. If only we'd had better estimates.

I talked with my sister, and she also lost of bunch of food they'd just bought.
And I talked with my mom: they just got back power yesterday! Five days without it. Their water comes from a well, and it can't pump without electricity. So, no running water. They cooked their food on one of the wood-burning stoves.

Yes, I have a friend whose water comes from a well, and I feel really sorry for her family's time of outage.
I'm glad your sister and mom have power (and water) now.
