ideas list for what to draw
Today I bought a small sketchbook at a craft store. At the zine fest on Saturday, I'm planning to offer the option of drawing something instead of trading, in case someone doesn't have something to trade. I want to come up with a list of ideas of things to draw. I thought of monster, monkey, and sofa. Maybe sofa's not a good one. Personally, I like drawings of donuts, but I'm worried people would just draw a circle inside a circle say, "Here's your donut," without a lot of artfulness. Any ideas? Maybe I should give some joke ideas, like sharks playing poker.

What about sectioning off a few pages zine-sized and have them add doodles; maybe to be used as a future zine cover?

Thanks for the idea, anonymous--I will think about it.

Some ideas:
Draw a person, but draw them using objects instead of body parts (like a baseball bat for a leg, carrots for arms)
A scene from your childhood
An image from a dream
One hundred of something
Something alliterative (two toucans touching tongues, or a pirate portrait)

What do you think about asking them to draw a portrait of you?

Hey, MM--love your ideas. Anonymous #2--sounds scary! They would draw a whale, a cow, or Jabba the Hutt. :P

How about a self-portrait? A friend of mine passed around a journal and had each of her students draw her a self-portrait, and it was very fun.
Or what if you had some of your poems available and people could do drawings inspired by the poems?

Maybe an alien? That could be pretty open to interpretation. Also a witch or a superhero or...
Those are generic I guess.
Maybe a container that holds something... special? Special isn't the word. Important? No... Other-Worldly! That might juice them into something worthwhile.
Or a kitty.

A container that holds something otherworldly--I added that to the list, and I hope someone chooses it to draw!
